Can people with velocardialfacial syndrome have aspurgers syndrome?
I was wondering this because my mom told me that i had autism spectrum disorder/aspurgers and vcfs wich i am confused about.
My son has 22q deltion (which is also the same as VCFS). I have been told by many medical professionals that first and foremost Patrick's diagnosis is 22q 11.2 Deletion Syndrome.Secondary to that is the ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). He has many symptoms of Aspergers and PDD NOS.
Sometimes as a parent, it is easier for me to explain to someone that my son has Autism than to explain the 22q Deletion.
So I do think people with VCFS have Autism characteristics, but the VCFS complicates the treatment success. Many doctors are not familiar with VCFS so the diagnosis ends up being ASD.
