Is vcfs considered a disability recognized by the Social Security Administration?

I'm trying to get social security benefits for my son.  He has many disabilities, but I believe they all are a result of having VCFS.  He has been denied SSDI in the past, but has not been officially diagnosed with VCFS.  Will it be beneficial to have him diagnosed?

yes it will as long as that's what he has, I had several disabilities growing up still do, but never had them linked to anything, and was denied ssdi several times they said that I was able to work and obtain a job even though it was clear that I had several problems, once I got diagnosed with vcfs with in 2 years I was accepted for ssdi something needs to be done because I don't think that's very fair, it's obvious that you have learning and physical disabilities, but ssdi won't approve because it's not linked to anything come on give me a break.

My daughter was approved right out of the gate because of the chromosomal deletion.

This is interesting to me because I always thought that the underlying diagnosis does not matter as much as the impact of the symptoms that present.  For example, someone with Down Syndrome will not automatically qualify just because of their diagnosis of DS, but they will likely qualify because of having Mental Retardation, which of course is caused by the Down Syndrome.  But it's the MR that grants them SSI, not the DS.  Does that make sense?
