What can I do to enjoy reading?
Everytime I read anything i become disinterested and not want to read. What can I do to stay focused and be alert? I want to be able to pay attention when I read. Is there any techniques to read and stay focused?
Lorene
Everyone experiencing learning disabilities differently and many people struggle with reading and staying focused when reading.
I am not sure, from your question, whether you are trying to stay focused on reading material that has to be read or if you want to enjoy reading for pleasure.
If you are trying to stay focused on material you must read, such as textbooks or material for a job, try reading a little at a time, rather than reading all at once.
Whether for school or for pleasure, you might want to try using books on tape and listen to the book as well as read along with it. Having the words spoken may help to hold your interest. There is different software programs available that can convert the written language to the spoken language, reading everything from books to web pages. Devices such as the Kindle also offer listening to books rather than reading them.
I have also heard from a few people with dyslexia that covering a page with a red or blue translucent paper helps in reading. You can find this type of paper at most craft stores.
I hope this helps

I'm just speaking from experiance but I have had a long absence from reading just started to pick it up again I find listening to music helps and make sure that your mind is clear before you start reading I find that if my mind is wondering off on so many different subjects it's hard for me to concentrate. I hope that helps.
