I was reminded by a good friend the other day, that even though our children with VCFS have a lot of difficulties, we cannot forget their strengths.
My son Jeff has some many strengths!
1. Everyone who meets Jeff, loves Jeff.
2. He can spell better than me!
3. He can tell you everything you want to know about World War II
4. He has a fantastic sense of humor
5. There isn't anything he won't do for someone
6. He works harder in school than anyone I know
7. He always strives to please other people
8. He's always trying to learn new things
9. Telling time has always been easy for him
10.He is very good at shooting sports
11.He is very good at Karate
12.He is very good at video games
13.If he hurts your feelings, he does what he can to make up for it every time!
14.He always wants to help his teachers at school.
15. He's an AWESOME kid!
The list could go on and on! So next time you're feeling down about your child's disability, sit down with a piece of paper and list all of your child's strengths! It will make you smile again in no time!
