Having a learning disability is always tough, no matter what type you have it is a struggle one deals with their entire life. As someone with NLD, I have a 24/7 reminder of things that I'd rather forget. Socializing can be a huge burden, academics are always tough, even reading alone for f...

I'm so happy to hear about another NLD'er (is that a real term?) with a positive attitude.  I can definitely empathize with the socializing issues.  That's been one of the hardest issues for me but I keep on trying to meet new people, make new friends and date more.  I'm in my late 30's it's getting pretty old, but I'm not giving up hope yet.  I keep on working hard both at work and my various hobbies and so far it has been working out fairly well.  You know something... if thirty years ago, someone were to have told me or my parents that I'd be where I am today, nobody would have believed it.  That's what keeps me going.

    Cheers.

Thank you Quinn for your encouragement for others with LD. My son is 25 and is learning to live independently.  He, like you, is not financially independent, but really really wants to be.  He is learning to drive now and feels that once he has his valid driver's license he will be "unstoppable".

He struggles with social situations, but never shrinks from them.  As you might guess, I'm pretty proud of him.

Thanks again for your encouragement.  God used this message from you today in my life (not sure how you feel about that comment, but it's true).

Hello there and thank you for writing your blog. First I would like to say that I would love for you to write more if you haven't before. Also, I don't mean to be a snitch, but I would kindly like to ask you if you could watch the profanity. I that that "ass" is not a big deal or anything like that, but we want this site to be safe for everybody, especially the young kids who come on here.

Know getting to your blog; I totally agree with you and everything that you said. However, I have found an article, in the past, that was titled,"Can Learning Disabilities Help You Succeed in your Career?" or something like that. Also, I love your idea about the Civil War book; I am a huge history buff and have found ancestors of mine that have fought in the Civl War, and keep on fighting for Opera!

wow that's great! i would love to hear more about your 3rd great grandfather! i had two relatives in the civil war! what side was he on? mine were on the union. if your book gets published soon then i'll check it out! i like reading journals of other people lol. i'll definitely check out your site! nice to read blogs by someone with a good attitude! i think the important thing is to show people that you can do things. if they say you can't study abroad just tell them you can and that what they say can't bring you down. and i agree with what your friend said. and one person can make a difference. look at people like anne frank, joan of arc and martin luther king jr. even though joan of arc was fictional she did amazing things. i've also had trouble with social situations. sometimes i'm really quiet around people i don't know and just stand around but i've gotten better as i got older lol.
