Quinn's Guide to Friendship, Dating and Self-Confidence

Socializing at school can be very difficult. It all depends on where and what kind of school you are at. There are many different ways to start a conversation. It also depends on what type of person to deal with; a cool kid, a geek or just your average Joe. Cool kids, are the toughest I think. They are ubiquitous but at the same time, they are all the same. The funny thing about cool kids is they think they know everything about being cool. However what they realize is that everything they think they know about being cool is actually the opposite of what being cool is. What makes me mad about a lot of cool kids is when they put people who are different down; and that's not cool at all.

Joining a group of cool kids is like joining a gang - they join because they feel the need to feel wanted and sometimes for protection. However, when they join the "cool kid" group, they start talking like them and it is almost that they forget the old way of how they were. So if you want to go up to a cool kid and start a conversation with one of them, you have to learn to talk like them. You have to study their "culture" and way of living. They are almost like tribes, they have allies and they have their enemies.

I'm not trying to make this about cool kids; you just have to study people before you try to start a conversation with them. However, a good way to start a conversation with someone is to just do it the old fashioned way - go up, introduce yourself, and ask questions about them.

Especially if it is a girl.
