About Me

My mother, 1 brother, sister, husband, and 1 son all have/had ASD's, but only my son has received help. I've seen firsthand how many adults went undiagnosed and untreated, grew up being bullied, teased, humiliated, ashamed, misunderstood, pushed to "conform", told they were "lazy", and suffered tremendous emotional pain as a result. I also suffered deep emotional scars. As a child, I knew there was something wrong, but couldn't identify exactly what it was. I reasoned that surely, if I got a graduate degree as a mental health professional, I would have my many questions answered, and (finally!) figure out what "normal" was! Ha! The joke was on me, because "normal" is only a myth!! Each of us is a beautiful, unique, valuable person who has a gift to share with the world!
