Quinn's Guide to Friendship, Dating and Self-Confidence

The phrase, "It takes a village" was made famous by Hillary Rodham Clinton when she was the First Lady of the United States.  This phrase was part of a book authored by Clinton entitled, "It Takes a Village: And Other Lessons Children Teach Us."  This book embraced Clinton's vis...

A better attempt to reach out and offer support about a place to come and write safely was never written. The truth is as you described it; when we have a problem, finding others whose footsteps have preceded us through the maze which life becomes, is priceless. It helps us think, see other ways, places, help and support, a shoulder if needed, to prop us up when we are about to fall.

Quinn's site is a good place to find all of this, and I hope the community you envision continues to grow, because the more ideas the better and the ideas flow from people writing about themselves and helping to answer questions when they know something about it, or just to let people know, there are others here for them. Quinn's Village. :)

LOL  Thanks for seeing beyond the politics Paul.  I really do believe it takes a village or community.  Nobody does this alone.  We all need help and sites such as this are of such great value to parents and caregivers as well as people who have disabilities themselves.  I do wish to see the community grow here...it is always so exciting when you see members pulling together for a common goal.

Thanks so much for your comment and please feel free to share any time!

I, too, have been surprised at the friends I've made through online support groups; never expected to, really, but it's true, we are never alone with whatever we're dealing with - someone else is or has gone through it, too, and their experience can be so helpful.  No need to re-invent the wheel!  It seems, over the last several decades, that we have been losing our sense of community with families splitting up, moving far away - extended families aren't so common any more, so we don't always get grandma's good advice or help, for example.  So, while maybe computers have helped us to isolate, this is a good example of how the internet can help connect us, all around the world.  What a miracle that is!  Thanks for sharing your experience, MM.

This is so very true Judy.  People are living long distances away from one another.  And it gets hard.  If I hadn't had a computer and support groups on-line...I don't know what I would have done.  It is just too difficult to get out physically very often to meet others who have similar issues.  Here...we can meet people from around the world and...I can be in my pajamas.  So it is a good thing in my opinion.

Always love hearing from you.  Thank you and Paul so much for participating and being such vital members of this community.
